Top schools boycott league tables

The head teachers of two of the most famous schools in the private sector, Dr Martin Stephen, of St Paul’s Boys School and Tony Little, of the world famous Eton College will no longer be submitting their schools exams results for publication in the league tables.

The league tables are due to be released in August; they give the prospective parents the opportunity to see how their local schools are doing and to help them make an informed choice as to whether or not to send their children to the school.

However the government may have a different idea about this, as they are insisting that league tables are there to make all schools transparent to parents. The idea that a school can decide not to send in the details is not negotiable, and it will be interesting to see what happens when the schools do not follow all of the others.
