There is a theory going around that people with high IQ’s are more likely not to believe in god, than other people who are considered to be in the national average. This is coming from a study by Professor Richard Lynn, emeritus professor of psychology at Ulster University.
The rise in average intelligence is being blamed for the fall in church attendance and religious observance. But these claims have been called far too simplistic to be the real reason as to why there has been marked fall in the amount of people who claim to be religious.
But to put this into context in a study made of the members of the Royal Society it was found that only 3.3% believed in god, however on the other hand the national rate of those who believe in god is currently standing at around 68.5%, which is a huge difference and seems to back the Professors claims up.
