Hidden CCTV in schools

There are growing concerns over the increased use of CCTV and even hidden cameras that are being installed in the UK’s schools. These concerns have come from survey of almost two hundred and fifty working teachers.

The findings from the survey revealed that there are surveillance systems installed in around 84.6 per cent of schools and over half of those who were questioned believed that the CCTV cameras made them feel a lot safer at work.

However nearly a quarter of those who replied said that they were concerned about the growing trend of schools installing hidden cameras, as this could be counted as being an invasion of privacy, as well as disrupting the education.

Almost all of the security systems have been installed for security, although it was also found that around half were installed to monitor and counter vandalism.
