Boys prefer to be taught by men
In a recent study of over a thousand men, nearly half of them forty eight per cent said that their male primary school teachers had a long lasted effect on their school life and beyond. The research had been carried out by ICM, for the Training and Development Agency, who are largely responsible for the training of teachers.
It has been found that this male figure can have a serious effect on how the child learns, this is especially so when the child comes from a one parent family.
Now there is call for more men to take up teaching, but in the year 2006/7, the amount of male teachers qualifying actually fell by one and half per cent. Therefore, there is to be a nationwide campaign to encourage men for all backgrounds to consider a career or career change to teaching.
