Learning at home in the UK

Currently there are around a hundred and fifty thousand children in the UK who are being educated at home; this amount has increased three fold since 1999.

The reasons for the rise are varied, it could be because the parents are unhappy with the child’s progress at school, the child may be bored which leads to them misbehaving, bullying, living in remote areas and on some occasions the child may be ill.

However, what is surprising is according the some reports children who are taught at home during the primary school year actually tend to do better than those who went to school.

Even the social aspect of going to school has no bearing on how the child turns out; they are not going to be shy or scared because these skills come out eventually anyhow.
