Did school swap work?

The other day the BBC2 programme Newsnight did a social experiment to see how pupils from an average secondary school got on when they went to top public school Wellington College, the idea was to try and make these kids realise that there is more to life.

However, do these schemes ever make any difference; there have been many experiments of a similar nature where people swap lifestyles? Nevertheless, it seems that for the under privileged they always seem to find that the way that other people live is out of touch with reality.

The purpose of this is to show differences, which they clearly do. Yet does it motivate people to work hard because one day they will have a big house and car, or does it show them that even in education the cards are heavily stacked against them.
