New school opened by Fiona Hyslop

As part of the council in South Ayrshire’s £76 million Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative, the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Fiona Hyslop MSP took time out her busy day to open a new £9.2 million school.

The Alloway Primary School had been completely knocked down, before being rebuilt from scratch into a state of the art building. So now, the pupils and staff have a brand new modern school to settle into, before getting back to the daily grind of lessons.

This is good example of how PPP can work, but really, PPP should not just be used whenever there is a project that is needed, because there is the issue of paying for these projects in the long term.
