Is gaming good for brain training?

We see adverts on the TV for so called brain training games that work with hand held devices; the claim is that anyone that uses these games will benefit from extra intelligence. Which begs the question, kids that play on video games should therefore be more intelligent?

However, in tests it has been found that these brain training games when used in groups, had no effect on the intelligence or even memory recall as the advertising is suggesting.

Yet other tests show that gaming could be of benefit to younger uses as these games, like sport, show them that team work and planning works. It also shows that gaming offers youngsters the opportunity to get involved in problem solving, strategies and creativity.

Clearly, a longer more intense study is required to find the definitive answer.
