Malaria campaign after teacher’s death

Harry Yirrell worked as a teaching assistant in a small fishing village in Ghana, this was a volunteer position, which shows the type of person he was. What ’s more, instead of taking his malaria medication he chose to hand it over to the people of the village, thinking that they needed it more than him.

A child dies every thirty seconds in Africa this shows the scale of the problem and why people like Harry went out there to work. The sad thing is by not taking his medication Harry also became a victim of malaria, but his death could see a renewed attempt to prevent this disease from killing more children.

Harry’s mother Jo has become a global ambassador for the charity “Malaria No More” who are launching a UK operation next week. The goal is to provide a mosquito net for every man, woman and child at risk by 2010.
