Creationism V Evolution in schools

There are growing concerns for the future of science lessons as evolution becomes a victim of the rise of the creationism movement. Concerns on these subjects are being voiced by Professor Michael Reiss who is head of science at the London Institute of Education.

The major concern is that teachers are becoming the brunt of questions that follow the creationism line, while trying to teach about evolution. The problem is that teachers will get to the point where they are no longer comfortable teaching some science because of the back lash from the mainly Muslim students who are brought up following the creation theories.

This delicate subject especially as the professor estimates that one in ten people in the UK at this moment believe in the literal interpretation of creationist theories.
