Schools have no effect on Social Gap

Despite what we have been led to believe, the social divide is not getting any smaller in our schools. These findings are from the annual report on schools by the inspectors OFSTED.

It seems that children from poorer areas are more likely to have little or no prospects. Out of those on free school meals only a third go on to achieve five or more good GCSE’s, whereas pupils who do not have the free school meals are achieving 61% in five or more GCSE’s.

Considering that the governments main election call has always been about education, it would seem that something is wrong, somewhere!
