Lack of sleep affects schooling

Kids who are over worked and over stressed are getting at least one hour less sleep per night than the average child. This has long term effects on the way that the child performs at school which will then add more pressure on the child and thus the situation will get worse and worse.

The stress can be brought on by something as simple as a change in teacher who may have a different way of teaching and handling the children in their class.

According to the National Sleep Foundation in the States, they have found that ninety per cent of the parents surveyed believed that their children were getting enough sleep, however when the children were questioned around sixty per cent reported that they had suffered from daytime sleepiness.

This will affect grades and behaviour in the long term, so sleep is a key factor in success at school.
