How to win

Most of us have seen people use the “Rock, Paper or Scissors” scenario in TV programmes and films for the characters to decide who goes first into the line of fire so to speak, but this method of deciding what to do, has been used in business, in fact recently a wealthy art collector could not decide which auction house his £10 million painting should go with, the obvious way would be for the two companies to play the game and the winner gets the deal.

So strategies were put in place and the game went ahead, and Christies beat Sotheby’s and got the deal.

But what is the optimum way to win? There are many theories on what is best, but in general it is believed that most people will start with rock, so therefore the opponent will go for paper. So the way to win is to go for scissors.
