Bogus university found by BBC

A bogus university set up in Ireland named the Irish International University (IIU) has been the subject of a BBC investigation. The university has been able to continue recruiting students, giving them a sub standard education and finally awarding degrees that are virtually worthless.

However there are over five thousand registered students worldwide all of which are entitled to enter the UK under an educational visa and take their exams in colleges in and around London.

There are questions as to the legitimacy of the whole organisation, to use the word university they would need approval from the Department of Education and Science, which don’t have. They also advertise that they have a campus in Dublin; however this turns out to be a mailbox.

This would seem to be an easy route for people to enter the UK and disappear.
